"Future Forecast... NOW!"
The 2027 Westminster Art Festival ~ Tentative dates: April 24 – June 11

We were worried 20 years ago, but we didn’t make the choices we needed to make. Now we are faced with a hotter planet, more extreme weather, more frequent and severe storms. These displace people, animals, and plants. Water is now a commodity and species are threatened. Meanwhile, environmental protections are weakened, not strengthened.
We face challenges today that have only complicated the reality of our situation. It’s not just about fossil fuels and offshore drilling; it’s also about data centers and the use of AI. It’s not just about the initial costs of war; it’s about the lasting effects of our high-tech weaponry and technology on the people, animals, and habitats in war-torn areas. It’s not just about squandering our natural resources; it’s about deciding to prioritize now over the future, instead of prioritizing now for the future.
With so much to think about, how do we overcome the overwhelm?
How do we help others understand how serious the situation is?
What do we do now?
The challenge in our current situation is that we need to make changes not for right now,
but for our future, and the future of those to come after us.
What does that future look like? Can the present trajectory be altered?
Can we envision a different future? What choices can we make to create that future?
What do we fear for the future? And what do we hope?
We believe that art and poetry can speak to this moment.
We will invite poets and artists to submit work on the theme
"Future Forecast...NOW!"
